You can receive benefit for a maximum of five days per week. You will receive this if you are wholly unemployed. If you spend time participating in one of the Public Employment Service’s (“Arbetsförmedlingen”) programmes and are in receipt of an activity grant, then these days will also be counted as compensatory days. A period of benefit is 300 days. If, by the 300th day, you have a child who hasn"t yet reached 18 years of age, you"ll be granted an additional 150 days.
You will receive no benefit for the first six days of unemployment; these are so-called qualifying days ("karensdagar"). This applies to each new period of benefit you begin. These qualifying days are included as part of the 300 days of the benefit period.
