Some cookies are necessary for alfakassan.se to operate effectively and these have already been saved temporarily onto your computer. They will, however, be deleted as soon as you close your web browser. Cookies are also used on Alfa-kassan's website to ensure that visitors receive a better user-experience.

  1. 1 Register as being unemployed

    Please also notify Arbetsförmedlingen that you will be seeking unemployment benefit from Alfa-kassan. Once you have done this, we will send you information on how you should apply for your benefit.

  2. 2 Complete the Notification of Unemployment form

    Complete the form, "Notification of Unemployment" (Anmälan om arbetslöshet) , and send the original to us. It is important that you answer all of the questions on the form.

    You can also complete the form on Mina sidor and sign it using your e-identification.

  3. 3 Get a certificate

    In order for us to be able to make a decision in your case, we will need your proof of employment documents for the last 12 calendar months before unemployment.

    Ask your employer to complete a Arbetsgivarintyg. This can be done electronically at www.arbetsgivarintyg.nu. There are lots of advantages to completing the work certificate from your employer electronically. Find out more here.

    If your employer cannot fill in your Arbetsgivarintyg electronically, it must be completed and submitted by post. The form is found here. Remember the certificate must be printed off and the original sent in by post. You cannot scan it and send it by email.

    If you have had several employers, you must send a separate form for each one.

    In some cases, we will need to see certificates that cover a longer period; for example, if you have been studying, been off sick or on parental leave. Sometimes we need additional types of certificates, depending on what you have been doing during this time. Therefore, we would ask you to contact our customer service if you are at all unsure as to which certificate(s) you need to send. They will be able to provide you with all the answers to any questions relating to your case.

  4. 4 Check and send

    Make sure that your documents are completed in full and do not forget that all copied certificates must be signed by a witness. This means that someone other than yourself certifies that the copy matches the original, by leaving their signature, name (clearly written) and telephone number on the front of all copies.

  5. 5 Dont forget your unemployment benefit cards

    Please complete your benefit card for the first two weeks. Send us the benefit card when these two weeks have passed. This is important as we cannot begin to deal with your case until we have received your first benefit card.

  6. 6 We may need more information from you

    Sometimes we will need some additional information in order for us to be able to make a decision in your case. In such cases, we will send you a letter or telephone you, explaining what extra information we need. Please contact us if you are unsure that your documentation is complete.

  7. 7 Our decision will be sent to you

    When one of our case workers has made a decision in your case, we will send you a letter. Mina sidor not only provides faster handling of your unemployment benefit card (tidrapport), but also enables you to contact Alfa-kassan about your case using the e-mail function.
